As we move faster into the age of electronic communication, people rely more on electronic data as a surrogate for direct interaction. Reflecting on this trend the contemporary art labelled for this time period is media art. This work contributes to the challenges and changes of this art genre by focusing on the conservation of media art. The importance of the content seems highly relevant for the museum industry, because the majority of the literature content does not address technical details of contemporary art. This work demonstrates both - art-works and the challenges and chances of media art especially in terms of the preservation.
